Terms of Service
By creating an account or uploading a document to document-to-latex you accept these terms. Please read them carefully.
Last updated: 2026-04-29
1. Service & provider
document-to-latex (“the Service”) converts PDF documents into editable LaTeX projects. The Service is provided by Florian Wider, Felsenbirnenweg 35, 88045 Friedrichshafen, Germany (“we”, “us”).
As a small business under § 19 UStG (Kleinunternehmer) we do not charge German VAT. Our prices are gross amounts; no VAT is shown on invoices.
2. Eligibility & account
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Authentication is provided by Clerk; please review their security recommendations.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload documents whose terms or licence forbid LLM processing or third-party transmission;
- upload content that is illegal, infringes third-party rights, or contains personal data of others without a lawful basis;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, automate against rate limits or otherwise overload the Service;
- resell the Service or its outputs as your own product;
- create multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier or credit-pack limits.
You retain all rights to the documents you upload and to the LaTeX projects we generate from them. We claim no ownership.
4. Plans, credits & billing
- Subscriptions and credit packs are billed via Stripe. Prices shown on the pricing page are the authoritative reference and gross amounts.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal accessible from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Credit packs do not expire. One credit corresponds to one converted page (see the pricing page for details).
- If a payment fails we may pause your subscription after a short retry window. Buying additional credit packs while you have an active subscription stacks on top of your monthly allowance.
- Outside the EU statutory right of withdrawal (see § 5), all payments are non-refundable once a conversion has been performed, since the service has been digitally delivered.
5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a paid plan or credit pack starting from the conclusion of the contract.
By starting a conversion before the 14 days are over you expressly consent to the immediate execution of the contract and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal for credits that have already been spent on a successful conversion (§ 356 (5) BGB). Unused credits and the unused portion of a subscription remain refundable within the 14-day window.
To withdraw, simply send an informal message to [email protected] before the 14 days expire.
6. Service availability & quality
We aim to keep the Service highly available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Output quality depends on the structure of the source PDF; we do not warrant that any specific document will be reproduced perfectly. The compare view exists so you can verify each result before exporting.
Scheduled maintenance and short outages are part of normal operation and do not entitle you to a refund.
7. Limitation of liability
We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence, for personal injury, and under mandatory provisions of the German Product Liability Act (ProdHaftG).
For damages caused by ordinary negligence, we are only liable for breach of a material contractual obligation (Kardinalpflicht) and our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract, capped at the fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the event.
Any further liability is excluded.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the account page; all personal data is removed within 30 days, subject to retention obligations described in our Privacy Policy. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
9. Changes
We may change these terms with at least 30 days' notice by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree, you may terminate your account before the changes take effect.
10. Online dispute resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR): https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
11. Governing law & venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes with merchants is the court competent for Friedrichshafen. Mandatory consumer protection law remains unaffected.
